Major Thom

Major Thom Breed: Quarter Horse
Color: Bay
Gender: Gelding
Sculpture: LE Resin
Scale: Curio Scale
This is the curio scale "Majoriffic" Resin. This resin is a favorite of mine. I've finished 2 others in the past, both of those were appies so I decided to do a solid color this time. As I was painting this guy all I could think about was chocolate, it gave me such cravings! LOL! Really, his color is rich, smooth and deep and very delicious looking. He was meticulously prepped by a professional prepping service. He was painted in Pastels. between each layer I spray TWO protective coats of finish. One, is a Krylon Crystal Clear, and the second is Testors Dull Coat. So by the time the piece is complete the coat is completely protected. I use matte finish on tips of ears, and mane/tail tips to protect those. He is completely finished when I add a clear shine over his eyes, and nostrils (and hooves once complete).

Here's what his new owner had to say when she received him: "I picked him up today. He's far more gorgeous in person. I love him"

Completed October 2009. Media used: Acrylics and Pastels.
